Therapy Dogs

We started going to Elm Park Frail Care Centre in Fairlands, using our Goldens as Therapy dogs.

A friend Helen Trump and I go every two weeks and work with the Occupational Therapist and the elderly patients. These people look forward to our visits and love to pat and cuddle the dogs.

We have had some emotional moments and breakthroughs.

One lady had had a stroke and hadn't spoken for over six months. She was in a wheelchair and Robbie put his head on her lap and looked up at her with his soft brown eyes, she put her hands on him and kissed him and said "Oh you are so beautiful!"

Another lady had lost the use of her left hand and one day she suddenly started stroking Robbie.

It is amazing how animals can heal and communicate with people!
